Twitter got hacked on Wednesday, where accounts of the world’s top leaders, celebrities, famous business people, and companies were compromised. Using these Twitter accounts, the hackers kept demand for Bitcoins forward.
On Wednesday, The Twitter accounts of many high-profile personalities got hacked. Include Barack Obama, Jeff Bezos, Joe Biden, Kim Kardashian, Mike Bloomberg, Bill Gates, Elon Musk, Kanye West, Apple, and more.
These accounts not only have millions of followers, but a lot of people trust them and would hand over the asked in a minute. Also, the hackers asked for Bitcoins to ensure there is no trace left behind when users are sending money. And of course, the hackers are not planning to send the double amount back.
This incidence highlighted when fake tweets proposing to send $2,000 for every $1,000 sent to a bitcoin address were made through those accounts. Not only this, but the scam seemed to have happened in two cycles after the similar Bitcoin-scamming tweets were made for one more time from the Bill Gates & Elon Musk’s official accounts after their first tweets have removed.
Twitter Support team has announced on Wednesday evening that their team is investigating and writes, “We are aware of a security disturbance impacting Twitter accounts. We are examining and taking steps to fix it. We will update everyone soon.”
