Union Minister Prakash Javadekar on Friday said that the coronavirus vaccination process in India will be completed by December. His remarks came after Congress leader Rahul Gandhi alleged that the government does not have a vaccination strategy.
Delhi Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal announced that the Capital will begin to ease restrictions from Monday. However, he cautioned residents to ensure they were safe and appealed against stepping out of homes unless necessary, adding that curbs may be enforced again if cases rise.
India reported 1,86,364 new coronavirus cases in the last 24 hours, taking the overall tally to 2,75,55,457 since the pandemic first broke out in January 2020. The toll rose by 3,660 to 31,88,95, while the active caseload stood at 23,43,152.
Globally, the coronavirus has now infected over 16.87 crore people and killed over 35.07 lakh since the pandemic broke out in December 2019, according to Johns Hopkins University.
